we had a great rehearsal on sunday. suzanne, taylor, alexandra - joined by hannah (a friend of tay's and a's) and mary who drove all the way from birmingham! played with a new improv - that i really like. Then we created a movement phrase out of a series of stage directions from one of the dialogues i am writing between mary and gabriel.
fellow annunciation bloggers - feel free to choreograph your own and send to me! or collect some visual images, or write some music...
she stands.
she moves to a new place pointing to where she was.
she points to herself in a new place.
she places her hands over her eyes.
she spins until she is dizzy and falls down.
she stubs her toe.
she looks for time.
she worries.
she measures.
she sets a pendulum in motion.
she makes a mark in the sand.
Come join us for improv structures from evolutionary theory on sunday feb 15 from 12:30-2:30 at Little Beirut. followed by a double birthday potluck (me and normando)
This blog began with "The Annunciation... sort of" , then on to the adventures of Big If dance.theatre and our attempt at a science/art collaboration. Unexpectedly, I moved to Iowa and a whole new group of artists, students and collaborators. First came "Small Elephant Stories" and now "Too Big". Ever evolving.

May Day
May Day is Mary's Day. At the Visitation Convent in St. Paul Minnesota, all of us, kindergarteners through seniors would dress in our white uniforms and form a processional which snaked around the grounds, stopping at various stautues and singing in three part harmony. It was great to be a part of. And then there's Amy Grant's lovely song Breath of Heaven...
